Life and times of not much better

Dadastorms continue and last night was one of the worst nights of sleep to date. It sure didn’t help that the power went out for 5 hours leaving the house dark and scary. This morning Tim was late and I was tired. There was no coffee and it took me about an hour to even make some between managing cranky kids and a comatose self. I am so glad that I decided we weren’t going anywhere. Though I did have to make a short trip to the grocery store to buy the ingredients for the stuffed manicotti, and a few other things that I was going to make for the dinner for our friends who had twins a month ago. It took me almost two hours to make the dish one handed and hoping that Morella or Athena would tire enough to take a nap. Alas it was not to be.

I just don’t get it. Well, maybe tonight I figured it out. Maybe. She wasn’t going to sleep again, despite being exhausted, cranky and not herself. I went in there for the umpteenth time to turn her noise machine to the lowest setting and noticed that her nightlight wasn’t blocked anymore. It was giving off enough light to read by (which she was doing) and playing with her friends (stuffies). I blocked off most of the light and eventually she settled.

Anyway. It was long day, but I did accomplish making new again parents some dinner, vacuuming, grocery shopping, and a little straightening up around the house. I just wish they would take naps during the day every day until they were 4.

Well, I am gonna wind down by watching a movie – 9. So far it’s great!

The manicotti was delectible. We’re still enjoying it today :) Thanks so much- but sorry it was such an ordeal with the cranky girls. Can’t wait to come play with you all on thursday!
