Day 10: The Beach

Today was great. It was a another rare beautiful November day. Every day that is nice in November feels like such a boon that I have to take advantage of, because next week it might snow. The girls were up again this morning at 6:00 — Morella did sleep though the night but Neeners was up at her usual times. We had toaster strudel for breakfast while watching morning TV. The two shows are Oswald and Pinky Dinky Doo — it’s just nice to have a change up in the morning television.

I got a shower and then got the girls dressed. We went to the bank and then to Cousin’s for the 2 for $5 before heading to the beach to meet some playgroup friends. Everyone else left after about a 1/2 an hour because of cranky kids and teaching, but we stayed. It was so…awesome. We had the beach to ourselves, I had a blanket and set up a little fort underneath the life guard station to keep the wind down while we ate lunch. Then I picked up garbage while the girls played. We ended up staying there for 2 1/2 hours, it was difficult to tear them away from the sand, even though they were exhausted. It was one of those days I never want to forget.

Of course the girls got wet, stepped and sat in the lake. I changed them midway with clothes scavenged from the car and strict orders to not go back into the lake. Instead I gave them some water in the pink plastic bin that I got from when I had either Neeners or Morella. I can’t believe that people don’t take those plastic bins with them when they leave. I wish I had 10 of them!

Dang it. The new sleep sheep I got Morella stops after about 15 minutes instead of going for 43 minutes like it’s supposed to. I just tried the other setting which is supposed to stop after 23 minutes…maybe the setting was messed up. I even just changed the batteries…ugh this makes me upset. It also makes me upset that Morella is STILL awake, and I am very tired, I don’t feel good and I have a killer kink in my neck/shoulder for the last two days that just won’t go away. I just want to go to bed.

Oh and that stupid effin cat is peeing in the bathroom again. Sometimes I just hate animals.

Anyway. We came home and the girls took giant naps, after that we went to our friend Ann and Noah’s house to go to Glass Nickle for dinner. I was *this close* to making dinner, but it just isn’t that appealing when it’s just for me and the girls and they very well might not eat much, then I will have tons of it leftover. Besides tomorrow I am making dinner for one of the Mom’s in our playgroup who had a baby two weeks ago. I wonder what I am going to make? Also, apparently I am going to be watching the 6 and 8 year old again too — I should probably figure out what i am going — oh Shepards pie. I have all the ingredients for that.

Ugh, go to sleep Morella! Mommy is tired and wants to go to bed.

Here’s a bonus picture from Monday. Neeners is really into wearing necklaces everywhere.

I love our pink plastic bin from the hospital! Now it’s holding our playroom pots/pans/spoons, but I know it will be useful for other things over the years. We didn’t get one with Nichol, and I sure noticed. The hospital was really monitoring supplies for budget reasons.

Oh, it’s the little blue and magenta plaid dress! I love seeing that pop up from time to time. It’s perfect for playing and being presentable for social occasions at the same time, isn’t it?

I wouldn’t normally think of going to a beach in November, but sounds like a fun time was had by all. I think I’ll make the effort to get the kids to the playground today. If it’s anything like the last gorgeous few days, I want to soak it all in, too.

Thanks so much for watching the girls! Sorry Mina was such a bear… It did not get better after we left! Ugh! Just one of those days I guess…
