Back on the horse

I need to get back on the blogging horse, no matter how brief or boring the posts may be. Truth is, my own journals are suffering as well. That always makes me sad because I want to remember as much of my children’s childhood, and my younger days as possible. I want something to keep me entertained in the old folks home. Or maybe my own house with a over grown lawn that sometimes my neighbors will mow.

–I took a walk with the girls in the double stroller today. We went to the Red Park and slid the slides (Neeners would only go down on my lap) and order delicious pretend food, to the Pink Park to swing because the play structure was in the sun, and to Olbrich Garden look at bullfrog tadpoles (much bigger than our puny little black tadpoles), play with water from the rose garden water fountains, and sit in Morella’s house as she gave us a tour (gazebo). I made corn on the cob, potato salad with mustard that expired 3 years ago — it was only 2 tsp….that should be okay right?, and seasoned pulled pork from Dells Dam.

Note – I just asked Tim to taste the salad and he said “I don’t taste anything hinky.”

Neeners took a nap while Morella played on the iPad and later watched How to Train Your Dragon with Tim and was able to actually see the whole thing! Bonus, no night terrors tonight!

–Rode the Drive on Sunday. Beautiful, perfect weather and the kids didn’t complain too much.

–Went out with another couple on a whim on Saturday. I texted the baby sitter in the afternoon to see if she was availablle and she said yes! Then I texted Christian and Cecci to see what they were up too and they had no plans. So we met at Glass Nickle to catch and Improv show that our friend Matt was in, at dinner there and then rode bike over to the Malt House for drinks (lambics on my part) and then headed home to relieve the babysitter from her duties. She said that Neeners went to bed at 6:00. Truth be told, Neeners is acting a little off lately, and she has what we think are swollen lymph nodes on the back of her head. If they are improved by tomorrrow I may take her in to the doctor to just make sure. Anyway, it was a great evening doing adult type things.

–Saw Dark Shadows with a woman I met from the Mom’s club a couple years back. We had appetizers and drinks afterward at Uno’s and closed down the joint. We very welll might repeat our plans this week except with Avengers.

–Hilary and Cullen came over last Friday to visit. Morellla had blast playing with Cullen in the back yard and is finally starting to really enjoy the privledge of being able to play in the back yard without adult supervision (a window or door is open) and no water is out. It was really good foor Morella to play with a friend, though it does usually send Neeners into my arms because she feels the neglected little sister part about half the time.

–I ordered the rest of my contacts since I spent my lasik money on a trip to India. I should go and pick them up tomorrow.

–Neeners loved Little Golden Books and so I think I am going to start making a concentrated effort to buy them when I see them at sales. oh I garage saled too, which was great. I got an awesome mint condition tent with two doors and four total windows for only $25. Woo! Oh and a bunch of buttons and a candle that may or may not be scented (it is old I think, but I was willing to give it a shot for .50 cents…which of course I haggled).

–Tomorrow is voting and finally taking Migo to the vet. She has wasted away to a spit of a cat and since she such a good friend to the girls, we owe it to her to find out what is wrong. My money is on thyroid. I wish I could predict the results of tomorrows recall election, but I can feel myself becoming too emotionally involved. And so I’ll keep it a distance and try not too think about it.
